Dirk's Violin
Help Keep this Fiddler Fiddlin!
Dear friends,
A good friend of mine was attacked walking home through Hasenheide park the other night. Fortunately he is ok but his violin didn't survive the encounter.
Dirk Ronneburg is a musicians musician. He plays in two great bands, Cera Impala and The New Prohibition Band and The Shoestring Swingers. He's recorded both albums of The New Prohibition Band and is studying Audio Engineering here in Berlin.
Dirk is also a family man. He has a two year old boy, Harlen Cash, with his wife and bandmate, Cera impala. They are great parents who support thier family with thier music.
A few years ago I was in a simmilar position. I was walking home after a concert and was attacked by a group of young men. They beat me up and stole my guitar. Dirk and Cera were quick to get friends together and organize a benefit concert to help me replace my guitar. Now it's time for us to help them.
What will it take?
Well, according to a friend who knows instruments, Dirk could get an ok violin for about 500€. But I see it like this - Dirk is a great musician who deserves a great instrument. I know that when I bought my first "good" guitar it cost me 1300€. It was so much better that what I had been playing, that it inspired a row of new songs I never could have played on my old applause/ovation I bought for 300$.
A good musician needs a good instrument. I'm settinga goal of 700€ for a new violin. I'd like to see us get 1000€ for a really good one so...
When we reach 1000€, any donations above that point will be donated to charity.
